A couple of the things I like to do with Tab Mix Plus is hide the close button on every tab except the one I'm using. This prevents me from closing a tab when trying to focus on it. I also like the way it forces off site links into their own tabs. I also like to get rid of the new tab button, the all tabs button, and the extra spaces on either side of the tabs. I enable the progress meter on the each tab so I get the a load status. Because I'm also a Fanboy (Mac and Habs), I like to use the reload every XX seconds/minutes features for live blogging events and Keynotes. I like the navigation to feel the same between the Dell and the MacBook so I customize my mouse clicking events: middle click opens link in new tab even if it's from the same site. I also the session handling a lot better than FireFox's own session handling (multiple sessions, saved sessions, last good session). I think a lot of it boils down to the way I want my FireFox to look.

And you're absolutely right and the memory FireFox memory leaking issues. In all fairness, FireFox is getting a lot better about this with every version it releases, I also happen to have 4Gb of RAM in my Dell and 2GB in the MacBook so it affects me a little less than others.

I never got the point of Tab Mix plus. I mean, what's its real use? I'm sure it's not just another row of tabs or coloration, right? Cause I don't see the point if that's it. I rarely have more than one row of tabs, FF is a memory hog once it reaches too many tabs.

Well, my 2 MUST HAVE extensions in order of importance are indeed : Adblock Plus and Tab Mix Plus.

I can not live without. Much of their functionality has been incorporated into other browsers but truth be told, i have yet to find a replacement for FF because of those 2 extensions.
