I don't want directions

xkcd: I Don’t Want Directions:

“Sadly this happens to us far more often than we would like it. “

Also this should give Steve’s TomTom Go 720 review a new set of legs for another 6 months.

Hand over your wallets! I’ve got an iPhone and you’re gonna buy it!!!

So Apple has generously reminded us that the latest saviour of our high-tech (un-American) soul goes on sale this Friday (our southern brethren were saved earlier in the year).

iPhone 4

iPhone 4 in black

And the usual tipsters have done a wonderful job digging up the non-deal-with-the-devil (or unlocked) prices. Thanks to the CBC we know that the 16 GB model will retail for about $680 while the 32 GB model will retail for about $790. To me that seems like a lot of money to pay for a phone (it’s still a phone right? We don’t have to download that app separately yet do we?!).

VIDEO: Darth Vader calls about his iPhone 4

VIDEO: Don’t miss the Darth Vader ‘antenna-gate’ spoof (s’funny) | 9 to 5 Mac:

““Are you seriously defending the new phone by saying that it almost performs as well as the old phone? Is that what the plan is?”

“The cellphone companies don’t share towers? The idiots?”"

This video is so awesome from beginning to end and I’d pretty much get this Darth Vader on our DadCast if it wasn’t for the whole: “Say the wrong thing and we’re all death gripped or Vaporized” I just finished some of the Wendyhouse upgrades for Season Three of the DadCast, the last thing I want it to relocate it to some frozen moon base.

So when will Season 3 start?
We’ve been trying to coordinate a Summer BBQ for the Kids and Family and hopefully record a short live show in the Wendyhouse, but so far family vacations have conflicted with almost every weekend it hasn’t been raining. We’ll get there, I’m sure of it. One is for sure that Steve, Ben and myself will be at PodcCamp Montreal this year, we’re debating on whether we should try to hit up McAuslan for some sponsored 2FatDads Bowling shirts with our Twitter names embroidered on them. Leave us a comment if you think it’s a good idea.

Doctor Who - The End of Time, of an era and the beginning of something fresh

My fellow fat dad @JohhnyCannuck has been an avid fan of Doctor Who since the early 80′s (as far as I can remember). I tried many a time to get into the show when it was shown on weekends on the PBS channel. Even with the talent of Tom Baker, Peter Davison and Colin Baker, I just couldnt get into the show. It didn’t have the Sci-Fi vibe I liked. I was into Battlestar Galactica with its space fights an cool spaceships. Even the bad guys (Cylons) were more scary in the old BSG than the daleks or Cybermen.

Move forward to 2005 and the revival of Doctor Who. Again my fellow fat dad urges me to watch the first 2 episodes. From the beginning, the show was different: better sets, the actors were more in-tune with the time, the revised Tardis and the phenomenal and enticing performance of Christopher Eccleston (not to mention the pretty Companion Rose played by Billie Piper). Fortunately for me, I got hooked right away.
