The Galaxy Tab Might Actually Be Alright

Samsung brings seven-inch Galaxy to tablet fight | 9 to 5 Mac Samsung brings seven-inch Galaxy to tablet fight | Apple Intelligence:

“”

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this things actually looks pretty cool and at least it has a built in camera for Skype calls. Not sure if I would take it to the grocery store though.

Canada avoids broadband duopolies, keeps line-sharing alive

Canada avoids broadband duopolies, keeps line-sharing alive:

“‘Requiring these companies to provide access to their networks will lead to more opportunities for competition in retail Internet services and better serve consumers,’ declared the CRTC’s Chair Konrad von Finckenstein”

Although the last couple of CRTC rulings have been quite good for the little guys and the consumers, their overall attitude is still incredibly bi-polar and fractal.

The Leo Laporte Clause

Apple to Provide Live Video Streaming of September 1 Event:

“Any reproduction or distribution is strictly prohibited without prior written approval from Apple. Please contact Apple Public Relations with any questions.”

This one line will forever be known as the Leo Laporte clause.

Leo Laporte Live blogging…

Joshua Topolsky As live as possible.

Leo Laporte Yeah, well, you won’t make the mistake I made and I’ve never been invited back. I just picked up my laptop at the iPad announcement and pointed it at Steve.

Joshua Topolsky I heard about this.

Leo Laporte Yeah, he gave me the stink eye too I could tell he could see me.

Joshua Topolsky You knew? He probably [ph] has a button (4:44), right because it’s kind of a…

Leo Laporte I was surprised that there wasn’t an injector seat actually, I was surprised I didn’t go flying through the ceiling but I do notice that I haven’t been invited to an Apple event since but of course it’s only been a few months.

Our Friend Adi Time Travels To Warn RIM About the Torch

TELUS puts up BlackBerry Torch “Coming Soon” page | MobileSyrup.com:

“Hi RIM, i’m a time traveller from the past. I came here from the year 2007 and i noticed that your technology is at the same level it was back in 2007 but you’re selling it at the same price as your competitors 2010 devices. How did you manage to suck so much and why are ignorant people still planing to waste their hard earned $$ on such ancient technology ??!
Adi”

There are days when reading stuff from Adi makes me pee in pants.

I also hear that when they showed Jim Balsillie & Mike Lazaridis the new 9800, they said TORCH IT, so that what Marketing named IT!

YouTube Launches Movies, But For Who?

Exactly Who are these movies being targetted to?

When I look at the selection made on the home page for the new movie service, I ask myself who the exactly is this intended for?
Jackie Chan imports, T&A B-movies, Bollywood stuff and Teen Slashers.
Really? Who picked these? A bunch of Google Engineers high on Mountain Dew and Twinkies or creepy Eric Schmidt.

It’s not exactly the iTunes movie page or even the Netflicks page, but at least this should help instil some competition and hopefully drive movie rental prices down too.
